Testimony
“I have
been growing roses under my greenhouse clad in Lexan Thermoclear for over 18
years. I now experience better yield from 21,000 roses, as I did from 35,000
roses growing in broad-acre crops! I would recommend the product to any grower
seeking maximum yield, long life-span and the peace-of-mind of a storm resistant
product!”

Superior Weatherability
Lexan
Thermoclear SunXP sheet, in addition to the inherent properties of the Lexan
Thermoclear Plus range, offers UV protection as standard on both sides, but with
even higher resistance to UV radiation, yellowing and loss of light
transmission. Lexan Thermoclear SunXP sheet comes with a 15 year written limited
warranty.
Anti-Drip
Lexan
Thermoclear Dripgard sheet features a specifically developed hydrophilic coating
on the inner surface which reduces the formation of condensation droplets, thus
helping to prevent crop spoilage in commercial greenhouses. This coating
technology can be combined with either the Lexan Thermoclear Plus sheet, Lexan
Thermoclear SunXP sheet or Lexan Thermoclear Easy Clean sheet.

Self-Cleaning
Lexan
Thermoclear Easy Clean sheet is the world’s first self-cleaning polycarbonate
sheet. UV protected on both sides, Lexan Thermoclear Easy Clean sheet features a
unique hydrophobic coating on the outside surface that reduces the surface
tension of polycarbonate and increases the contact angle of water to the sheet.
This causes large droplets to form and wash away dirt, leaving the sheet almost
spotless. Furthermore it stays clean longer, thereby improving light
transmission levels and reducing the frequency and the associated cost of
cleaning.
High
Impact Strength
The
inherent properties of polycarbonate give Lexan Thermoclear up to 250 times the
impact strength of tempered glass, resulting in greater resistance to hail and
stones.
UV
Protected Both Sides of Sheet
Both sides of the sheet
have
Sabic Innovative PlasticsTM patented surface coating technology to provide high resistance to
yellowing, hail and loss of light transmission. This feature eliminates the
problem of sheets being installed with an unprotected surface exposed to the
weather with resultant UV damage. Angle cuts can be reversed, so there is also
an economic gain when cutting requirements are high.
Spanning / Weight
The
multiwalled structure of Lexan Thermoclear allows the sheeting to display
excellent spanning capabilities. When compared to glass, this can mean far fewer
glazing bars, thus increasing light transmission and reducing costs.
Lexan
Thermoclear is also up to 8 times lighter than 4mm float glass. The lighter
weight results in a far less substantial structure being required to support the
material, reducing costs and maximising light transmission.

Insulation
The
multiwalled structure of Lexan Thermoclear sheeting, allows the product to
display excellent thermal insulation properties. This results in high energy
savings, especially important in heated greenhouses. Greater insulation also
means lower levels of condensation.

Light
Transmission
Lexan
Thermoclear sheet displays excellent light transmission and clarity. With GE’s
patented surface coating technology, Lexan Thermoclear sheet is also warranted
to maintain a high light transmission level over a long period of time.

Note:
Other factors also contribute to overall light transmission such as the level of
supporting structure, orientation and the shape of the structure itself. Unlike
glass, Lexan Thermoclear sheet features excellent spanning capabilities to
reduce supporting structure, and can be curved to minimise shaded areas.
Curving
Lexan
Thermoclear sheet can be curved to a minimum radius, 175x the gauge. For
example, 6mm sheeting can be curved to a 1050mm radius.
Sheet
Sizes
Lexan
Thermoclear sheet is available in structures from 4.5mm to 32mm. For the
majority of greenhouses, 6mm, 8mm or 10mm gauges are used. Sheet widths are
available up to 2100mm, with lengths available up to 11.8m. For stock
availability, please contact your nearest Ampelite office.

Installation
The light
weight of Lexan Thermoclear sheet makes installation easy and efficient. A range
of installation options are available depending on the structure and
application. Aluminum glazing bars with rubber gaskets are available, as well
as translucent polycarbonate connecting bars. For more information on
installation, please contact your nearest Ampelite office.
Warranty
Sabic Innovative PlasticsTM Lexan* Thermoclear* patented surface coating technology allows Lexan Thermoclear sheet to display
superior resistance to hail damage and loss of transmission. Lexan Thermoclear
features a limited 10 year warranty against hail damage and a loss of light
transmission of only 4% over the same period. A limited 15 year warranty is
available for the new SunXP product.
