Webglas GC®

Trafficable roofing for demanding environments

Designed for roofs where foot traffic is expected, including roofs with large solar arrays. Woven-glass reinforcement and a protective gel coat also make Webglas GC a strong choice for corrosive industrial environments.

Product information

Trafficable roofing

Webglas GC is designed for roofs where maintenance and emergency foot traffic is expected. A continuous woven-glass mat reinforces the 3660 g/m² sheet, providing strength, stiffness and impact resistance. The gel-coated surface protects the GRP body against UV exposure and weathering.

Solar arrays and roof access

Webglas GC is an ideal choice for roofs with large solar arrays, where regular inspection, cleaning and servicing bring people onto the roof. It also suits access around rooftop HVAC equipment. Design the trafficable system with the correct profile, supports and fixings, and use boarding where needed to protect the surface. Support solar panels and their mounting loads on the roof structure.

Chemical resistance

Webglas GC is a preferred roofing and cladding solution for chemically corrosive industrial environments, including wastewater treatment, fertiliser plants, galvanising, mining and desalination. Webglas GC+ adds chemically resistant resins for aggressive acid or alkaline exposure. Ampelite can select the resin and fixing materials for the chemical, concentration, temperature and exposure conditions.

Colours and installation

Ice Clear and Opal panels provide daylight; opaque panels suit complete roofing and cladding envelopes. Trafficability depends on the installed system, including the PermaLok steel washer, fastener pattern and support spacing. Confirm any safety-mesh exemption for the selected system with Ampelite.

Spans depend on profile, design pressure, supports and fixings. Complete-roof limits include concentrated-load testing. Confirm the trafficable system and end-span requirements with Ampelite.

Installation and care

  1. Design access routes, concentrated loads and wind loads with the selected roof profile. Use the profile-specific span and fastener tables rather than a single maximum span for every installation.
  2. Install the required PermaLok steel fixing washer and EPDM sealing system with compatible screws. The correct fixing assembly is essential to the installed performance and warranty.
  3. For corrosive environments, select the resin grade and compatible fasteners, caps and flashings. Use the specified Grade 316 stainless steel components where required.
  4. Confirm any safety-mesh exemption for the tested system. Provide safe roof access and use boarding where needed to protect the sheet surface.
  5. Wash at least twice a year with mild detergent, a soft brush or low-pressure water, then rinse. Remove deposits and inspect joins, flashing, fastener washers and gutters. Increase the cleaning frequency where chemical or industrial deposits accumulate.

Frequently asked questions

Is Webglas GC suitable where foot traffic is expected?

Yes. Webglas GC is designed as a trafficable rooflight system for maintenance and emergency access when the specified profile, support spacing and fixing details are used. Roof access still needs to be planned for the building.

Why choose it for roofs with large solar arrays?

Solar arrays increase the need for rooftop inspection and maintenance. Webglas GC allows trafficable daylighting to be considered in the access design. The solar array and its supports must remain structurally independent of the rooflight.

Which product suits severe chemical exposure?

Webglas GC+ incorporates chemically resistant resins for more aggressive conditions. Give Ampelite the chemical names, concentrations, operating temperatures and exposure details so the correct grade can be selected.

Does Webglas GC always eliminate safety mesh?

Mesh omission depends on the tested installed configuration and project requirements. Confirm the profile, spans, fixings and relevant test evidence with Ampelite.

How should Webglas GC be maintained?

Clean at least twice a year with mild detergent and a soft brush, then rinse. Remove deposits, keep drainage clear and inspect fasteners, seals and flashing. More frequent cleaning may be needed in industrial environments.
