The Ampelair Spinaway is a wind-driven turbine ventilator for domestic roof spaces. Its rotating head draws warm, stale air out through the roof while replacement air enters through suitable openings such as eave vents.
With a 300mm throat and a lightweight aluminium body, Spinaway provides natural ventilation without an electrical connection.

Plan the airflow, not just the outlet
Installation essentials
- Provide evenly distributed replacement-air openings, such as eave vents, to support crossflow ventilation.
- Adjust the varipitch base so the rotating head sits horizontally.
- Use the technical bulletin to determine ventilation requirements for the roof, pitch and application.
- Follow Ampelite's installation instructions, including flashing and mesh requirements. Professional installation is recommended.
Bushfire-prone locations
The technical bulletin covers BAL 12.5 to BAL 40 in Class 1 and 10a residential applications when paired with Ampelair Vent Mesh and correctly specified and installed. This does not extend to BAL-FZ.
Product use limits
The bulletin excludes cyclonic wind regions C and D, locations within 500m of saltwater bodies, and hazardous or corrosive environments. The brochure does not recommend Spinaway for commercial or industrial use.

10-year body warranty
Coverage and conditions
The linked warranty covers manufacturing defects in the product body for 10 years for roof ventilation in Class 1 and 10a buildings in non-BAL regions, subject to its terms.
Conditions include installation to Ampelite instructions, a horizontally installed rotating head and suitable replacement-air openings. The warranty document sets out exclusions, including colour fading and installation within 500m of saltwater.

Before you choose Spinaway
Does Spinaway need electricity?
No. Spinaway is wind driven and requires no mains electrical connection. Airflow depends on the available wind and the ventilation design.
How many ventilators will my home need?
The quantity depends on the roof dimensions, pitch, replacement-air openings and ventilation requirements. Use the product technical bulletin and speak with Ampelite about your roof rather than selecting a quantity from floor area alone.
Do I need eave vents as well?
Replacement air is essential. Suitable, evenly distributed inlet openings such as eave vents support crossflow ventilation. Check the technical bulletin for the inlet requirements that apply to your roof.
Can it be installed on a metal or tiled roof?
Yes, within the listed installation limits. The technical bulletin specifies 3°–45° for metal sheet roofs and 15°–45° for tiled roofs. The rotating head must be installed horizontally.
Can Spinaway be used in a bushfire-prone area?
The technical bulletin covers BAL 12.5 to BAL 40 for Class 1 and 10a residential applications with Ampelair Vent Mesh, subject to correct specification and installation. BAL-FZ is excluded.
